The supervise work in confined spaces training course is nationally recognised and provides the skills and knowledge required to supervise work in confined spaces in the resources and infrastructure industries. This course also includes issue work permits and covers the skills and knowledge required to issue work permits. It covers an understanding of the permit system and the limitations of each permit, and making decisions regarding the need for and correct use of each permit. This unit includes the issue of any and all permits. Permits are called ‘clearances’ by some organisations.
Student Requirements
Students must have the language, literacy, numeracy (LLN) and physical capabilities to meet the performance criteria of this unit. (For further information or if you have any concerns regarding LLN and/or physical capabilities please contact the office)
Students must have the ability to read and write English and be able to perform practical and theoretical assessment as required.
Students must wear standard work wear, enclosed safety shoes, long shirt and pants.

There are no pre requisites for this course.
Designed For
This course is recommended for participants who are working in supervisory roles. They are generally responsible for the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and apply management plans to the workplace. It also applies to personnel who are required to issue appropriate permits to work to persons conducting a variety of activities in workplace environments in which hazards exist or specific procedures need to be followed and monitored to protect the safety of personnel and the integrity of plant or process.
Upon Completion
Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and wallet sized card for:

selection, use, training and maintenance of safety and rescue equipment

techniques for coordinating and communicating job activities with others.
