Confine Small Workplace Emergencies (PUAWER008B) & Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation (PUAWER005B)

This nationally accredited Confine Small Workplace Emergencies (Fire Extinguisher) and Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation (Emergency Warden) training course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to use fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets on small workplace emergencies and implement emergency response specified in the workplace emergency procedures.

Designed For
Personnel occupying premises equipped with portable fire fighting equipment, e.g. fire extinguishers, fire blankets and fire hose reel and designated as fire wardens in any workplace.

Pre-Requisites 
There are no pre-requisites for this training.

Assessment
Participants must have the ability to read and write English and be able to perform practical and theoretical assessment as required.

Course Details 

   Individual bookings:

  • Duration: 7 hours
  • Time:8am to 3.00pm
  • Dress: Clean standard work wear, enclosed safety shoes, long shirt and pants

  • Site Requirements: To conduct theory presentation we require a boardroom/training room with facility to darken room for computer projection. To conduct practical extinguisher use we require an outdoor area no less than fifteen square metres.

  • Alarms and warning systems
  • Human behaviour in emergencies
  • Emergency warning and intercommunication system
  • Use of emergency control equipment and facilities
  • Command and control evacuation procedures
  • Assembly point control, personnel accountability
  • Co-ordination of emergency services
  • Post initial response- recovery, re-location, restoration & de-brief
  • Evacuation plan – building requirements
  • Evacuation exercise (if required)
  • What is fire, elements and characteristics, fire tetrahedron, combustion
  • Classes of fire and methods of extinguishment
  • Types of fire extinguishers and colour coding
  • Fire Fighting Agents, e.g. Foam, Water, Dry Chemical Powder, Carbon Dioxide, Wet Chemical
  • Fire hose reels and fire blankets
  • Method of operation of portable fire fighting equipment
  • Identify fire hazards in your workplace

Upon Completion
Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for (PUAWER005B) Operate as part of an emergency control organisation and (PUAWER008B) Confine Small Workplace Emergencies.
