Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation (PUAWER005B) – Fire Warden

This nationally accredited Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation (fire warden) training course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to implement the emergency response specified in the workplace emergency procedures or specified by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation. People who undertake this work will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the emergency control organisation.

This training is delivered in compliance with AS 3745-2010.

Designed For
This four hour course is for participants designated as fire wardens in any workplace.

Pre-Requisites 
There are no pre-requisites for this training.

Face to face

Assessment
Participants must have the ability to read and write English and be able to perform practical and theoretical assessment as required.

Course Details 

  • Where: On your site or ours.
  • Duration: 4 hours (can be combined with Fire Extinguisher on your site or ours – 7 hours)
  • Site Requirements: To conduct theory presentation we require a boardroom/training room with facility to darken room for computer projection.

    • Emergency Planning Committee (EPC)
    • Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)
  • Basic Fire Behaviour
  • Evaluating and responding to emergencies
  • Wardens – roles, responsibilities, identification
  • Alarms and warning systems
  • Human behaviour in emergencies
  • Emergency warning and intercommunication system
  • Use of emergency control equipment and facilities
  • Command and control evacuation procedures
  • Assembly point control, personnel accountability
  • Co-ordination of emergency services
  • Post initial response- recovery, re-location, restoration & de-brief
  • Evacuation plan – building requirements
  • Evacuation exercise (if required)
  • Assessment

Course Assessment

Practical, theoretical and application based assessment in consideration of the following competencies:

  • PUAWER005B/01 : Respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings
  • PUAWER005B/02 : Initiate and control initial emergency response
  • PUAWER005B/03 : Anticipate the further development of emergencies
  • PUAWER005B/04 : Assist with post initial response

Upon Completion
Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for (PUAWER005B) Operate as part of an emergency control organisation.
