NRT LOGO - From TACThis confined space rescue training course is nationally recognised and provides the participants with the knowledge and skills require to undertake rescue in confined spaces, as defined in AS 2865-2009 Confined spaces, as a member of a single agency or multi-disciplinary team.

 

Designed For
This Unit is recommended for participants from emergency services or volunteer organisations where confined space work is undertaken.

Pre-Requisites
There are prerequisites required for (Fire Sector Specific) training PUASAR022A Participate in a rescue operation (Fire sector specific) PUAFIR316 Identify, detect and monitor hazardous materials at an incident (Fire sector specific)

MSMPER205 Enter Confined Space or RIIWHS202D Enter and Work in Confined Spaces
MSMWHS217 Gas Test Atmospheres
MSMWHS216 Operate Breathing Apparatus

Assessment
Participants must have the ability to read and write English and be able to perform practical and theoretical assessment as required.

  • Time: 8.00am to 4.00pm
  • Dress: Clean standard work wear, enclosed safety shoes, long shirt and pants

Course Outline

  • Australian Standard (AS) 2865-2009 Confined spaces
  • understand and apply lock, tag out and isolation procedures
  • provide emergency care
  • organisational procedures for cleaning and discarding equipment in terms of environmental management and sustainability
  • potential occupational hazards and control measures
  • procedures for atmospheric monitoring
  • purging and ventilation in accordance with national standards
  • selection, use and maintenance of respiratory devices
  • use of ropes and knots for accessing confined space
  • conduct rescue operations
  • manage rescue scene

Upon Completion
Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and wallet sized card for:

  • PUASAR025A Undertake Confined Space Rescue
